University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Lead Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to support a growing outpatient oncology practice. The role combines direct patient care with leadership responsibilities, mentoring other APPs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams dedicated to hematologic malignancies.

The ideal candidate excels in communication, relationship-building, and navigating complex clinical scenarios. Oncology and blood cancer experience are highly desired.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program (master's or higher) or a master's degree in nursing with accredited Advanced Practice Education.
  • NCCPA certification required and Texas PA licensure or APRN licensure with prescriptive authority.
  • Current ACLS certification as per UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages APP coverage schedules for inpatient and outpatient settings and analyzes APP staff deployment.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations with division leadership.
  • Reviews safety events related to APP practice quality and safety; supports remediation as needed.
  • Promotes participation in continuing medical education and quality initiatives.
  • Provides diagnostic and therapeutic management within scope of practice; performs comprehensive examinations and develops patient care plans.
  • Leads team meetings to identify barriers to patient care and develops resolutions with leadership.
