Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Lead Advanced Practice Provider to support a growing outpatient oncology program focused on blood cancers. This role blends direct patient care with leadership, mentoring APPs, and partnering with physicians and administrators to optimize clinical operations and patient experience.

The ideal candidate has prior oncology APP leadership experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to team-based care within a premier academic medical center.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a master’s degree or higher in an ARC‑PA accredited Physician Assistant program or, alternatively, a master’s in nursing with accredited Advanced Practice Education Program.
  • NCCPA certification and Texas PA license, or Texas APRN licensure with prescriptive authority.
  • Current ACLS certification as required by UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees APP coverage schedules for inpatient and outpatient settings and tracks performance data.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations with leadership and faculty.
  • Responds to safety events related to APP practice and drives remediation where needed.
  • Leads quality improvement initiatives for APP programs and practice areas.
  • Facilitates regular APP team meetings to identify barriers and develop solutions.
  • Supports professional development and CME participation for APP staff.
  • Handles diagnostic/therapeutic management within scope and privileges and documents patient exams.
