Job summary

Hillard Electric, Inc. is seeking a skilled access control technician to install, configure, and troubleshoot card readers and door controllers.

You will pull and terminate low-voltage cabling, perform site surveys, and coordinate with project managers and engineers on Birmingham projects. The role requires 3+ years of experience with Lenel/Software House/Genetec/Honeywell or similar platforms, plus strong documentation and testing skills.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience installing and servicing access control systems.
Familiarity with Lenel, Software House, Genetec, Honeywell, or similar platforms.
Experience with low-voltage cabling and termination practices.
Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English and perform basic math.
Valid driver\'s license with acceptable driving record.
Able to lift up to 60 lbs, work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying temperatures.
Verifiable experience and character references required.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and troubleshoot access control systems including card readers, door controllers, and credential management platforms
Pull and terminate low-voltage cabling associated with access control infrastructure
Conduct site surveys and coordinate with project managers and engineers
Complete installation documentation and quality assurance reports
Perform system testing and commissioning upon project completion
