Job summary

Hillard Electric, Inc. is seeking an experienced access control technician to install, configure, and troubleshoot access control systems on commercial projects in Birmingham, AL.

You will pull low-voltage cabling, perform site surveys, and coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure quality documentation and successful commissioning. The ideal candidate brings at least 3 years of hands-on experience with Lenel, Software House, Genetec, or Honeywell, strong basic computer skills,

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience installing and servicing access control systems.
• Familiarity with Lenel, Software House, Genetec, Honeywell, or similar platforms.
• Experience with low-voltage cabling and termination practices.
• Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Must read, write, speak English and perform basic math.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Able to lift up to 60 lbs, work in confined spaces, at heights and in varying temperatures.
• Verifiable experience and character references are required.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot access control systems including card readers, door controllers, and credential management platforms.
• Pull and terminate low-voltage cabling associated with access control infrastructure.
• Conduct site surveys and coordinate with project managers and engineers.
• Complete installation documentation and quality assurance reports.
• Perform system testing and commissioning upon project completion.
