Job summary

Pref-Tech is seeking a Security System Lead Technician to head a small team handling access control, video surveillance, and intrusion projects. You will plan daily tasks with PMs, supervise technicians, and ensure installations meet safety, quality, and budget standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in security, 2+ years in leadership, and TX licensure or ability to obtain TXDPS license. Strong drawing literacy and customer communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid TX driver’s license, pass MVR check and maintain a clean record.
• At least 5 years of security experience.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience.
• TXDPS Security License either current or ability to obtain immediately.
• Familiarity with Access Control Systems (Software House, Genetec, Honeywell, HID, Mercury, LifeSafety Power).
• Familiarity with Video Surveillance/CCTV (Genetec, ipConfigure, Axis, Hanwha Techwin).
• Familiarity with Intrusion Detection (DMP, Bosch/Radionics).
• Familiarity with Structured Cabling (Panduit, Commscope).

Responsibilities

• Plan daily tasks with Project Manager and/or Superintendent.
• Lead, coach, train, and mentor technician team.
• Install cabling, mount equipment, install readers and locks.
• Troubleshoot cabling, readers, locks, cameras, and intrusion equipment.
• Read and understand drawings and schematics.
• Document and report progress to Project Managers and customers.
• Maintain safety and quality control during installations.
• Coordinate with customers and internal staff.
