Job summary

Agilent Technologies, Inc. in Chicago seeks a Field Service Engineer to install and optimize hardware, software, and network configurations at customer sites, diagnose performance issues, and perform maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or other university-level degrees within the science field -- e.g. chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology or similar highly preferred; may consider applicants with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• 4+ years of experience working with analytical instrumentation, ideally including repair, maintenance and/or troubleshooting
• Experience or expertise with Chromatography (LC) and Mass Spec (LCMS)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer relationship-building skills are essential
• Ability to travel 75% of the time
• A valid driver's license is required for this position

Responsibilities

• Installs and optimizes hardware/software/network products and configurations at customer sites
• Diagnoses and resolves product performance problems
• Performs maintenance and repairs
• Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations, which may impact product performance
• Proactively responds to potential equipment issues to prevent unplanned interruption of customers' business
• Deliver fully integrated solutions, which may include peripherals, communications, operating systems, and application software
• Train other field engineers and customers in the solution
