Altius Talent is partnering with a growing international freight forwarding and customs brokerage provider to find an experienced LCB Brokerage Manager to join their team in the New York, NY area.

The LCB Brokerage Manager will oversee the daily operations of the customs brokerage department, ensuring accurate and compliant entry filings while leading a team of brokers and entry writers. This role requires deep expertise in U.S. Customs regulations and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be an active Licensed Customs Broker (LCB).
• Experience leading a brokerage team and managing complex entries.
• Strong knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, and CBP compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day customs brokerage operations including entry filing, classification, and valuation.
• Lead, train, and mentor a team of licensed brokers and entry writers.
• Ensure entries comply with CBP regulations and PGA requirements.
• Review and resolve complex classification, duty, and compliance issues.
• Serve as escalation point for high-risk entries and ensure timely clearance.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing customs regulations and tariff schedules.
• Coordinate with CBP, clients, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor KPIs and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
• Support audits, compliance reviews, and recordkeeping per CBP requirements.
• Assist with client onboarding and guidance on import compliance best practices.

Position Overview

The LCB Brokerage Manager will oversee the daily operations of the customs brokerage department, ensuring accurate and compliant entry filings while leading a team of brokers and entry writers. This role requires deep expertise in U.S. Customs regulations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex classification, valuation, and compliance issues across a diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage day-to-day customs brokerage operations, including entry filing, classification, and valuation
• Lead, train, and mentor a team of licensed customs brokers and entry writers
• Ensure all entries comply with CBP regulations, as well as PGA (Partner Government Agency) requirements
• Review and resolve complex classification, duty, and compliance issues
• Serve as the primary point of escalation for high-risk or problematic entries
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing customs regulations, trade agreements, and tariff schedules
• Liaise with CBP, clients, and internal operations teams to ensure smooth and timely clearance of shipments
• Monitor department KPIs and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Support audits, compliance reviews, and recordkeeping in line with CBP requirements
• Assist with client onboarding and provide guidance on import compliance best practices

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Active Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) license required
• Proven experience in a customs brokerage management or senior brokerage role
• Strong working knowledge of HTS classification, customs valuation, and CBP compliance regulations
• Experience managing or mentoring a brokerage team
• Familiarity with customs entry filing software/TMS platforms
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
