Job summary

Qualifications

  • Handle clerical duties, emails, and data retrieval.
  • Update space assignment information in the system as needed.

The University of New Mexico School of Law seeks a temporary Facilities Coordinator for a two-month period ending September 30, 2026. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Administrative Operations and performs a range of duties related to building maintenance and repairs, remodel projects, and building access controls.

Responsibilities
  • Submits online work requests to UNM Facilities Management for the repair and maintenance of two Law School buildings.
  • Regularly tours the building to identify new areas requiring repairs; coordinates resolutions with UNM Facilities Management, Environmental Health and Safety, UNM Movers, the fire marshal, and other departments.
  • Coordinates with UNM Planning Design & Construction on remodel activities and provides building/office access to contractors as needed.
  • Issues key authorization requests if designated and updates proxy card settings to specify building access permissions for members of the Law School community.
  • Maintains and orders supplies as approved by the manager, as necessary for facility operations.
  • Performs day‑to‑day on‑site public assistance activities, such as alerting UNM PD to safety and security concerns, providing directional information to visitors, and ensuring the building is accessible during specified hours.
  • Assists with events held at the Law School, including furniture setup and tear‑down, and interaction with caterers, security personnel, and event staff, as appropriate to the specific event.
  • Performs various clerical duties, including generating and responding to email inquiries and electronic work requests, researching work orders and facility project invoices and records, and generating lists of facility‑related data as requested.
  • Occasionally updates Law School space assignment information in UNM’s online Facilities and Maintenance Information System.
Conditions of Employment
  • A valid New Mexico driver’s license will be required if a motor vehicle must be operated on the job.
  • Successful candidate must submit to a post‑offer, pre‑employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas must comply with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • If located at the UNM Children’s Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post‑offer, pre‑employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and status will be verified by periodic future background checks.
  • All regular, non‑temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US‑UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; at least three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Highest dependability and reliable attendance.
  • Experience with UNM Facilities work request processes.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and the ability to use online data systems.
  • Experience working with a wide range of constituencies from diverse backgrounds.
