Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• At least three years of clerical or office experience, or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to acquire NCIC/GCIC Certification.
• Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains records for the Chatham County Police Department.
• Compiles information using various computer systems and software applications.
• Reviews, proofreads, and validates records.
• Enters, clears, and cancels wanted/missing person and lost and stolen property information.
• Assists other agencies who maintain CJIS Service agreements with Chatham County Police Department.
• Interacts with customers, Investigators, and other Department personnel.
• Prepares and maintains files, filing systems, logs and records.
• Handles confidential information.
• Answers telephones, accepts and relays messages, forwards calls, answers questions, provides information, and responds to customer concerns, complaints, and requests.
• Obtains, reviews, and disseminates data.
• Deals with a wide range of persons, including upset individuals.
• Performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under time pressure.
• Communicates effectively with others, both orally and in writing.
• Operates a personal computer using standard or customized software applications relevant to tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
