Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Data & Control Systems Technician for starship launch hardware. You will install and terminate wiring for pad instrumentation, assemble cable assemblies, and work with PLC/DAQ systems to support launch activities.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration with design engineers to ensure wiring, power distribution and control systems meet requirements. The role involves lifting, shift work, and possible travel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 1+ years of professional experience working with industrial controls or instrumentation in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Associate degree in aerospace technology or another technical field (preferred).
  • 2+ years of professional, hands‑on experience working with launch site instrumentation (preferred).
  • Experience with ISO 9000, IPC-620, and ICP-610 standards (preferred).
  • Quality inspection experience with harnessing and cables (preferred).
  • Understanding of basic direct current electrical theory (preferred).
  • Experience helping to develop and document procedures (preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to design and fabricate simple electrical circuits (preferred).
  • PLC and DAQ programming experience (preferred).
  • Experience with NI Max, Step 7, Studio 5000 (preferred).
  • Proficient with use of power tools and hand tools (preferred).
  • Travel to other sites up to 15% (required).

Responsibilities

  • Install and terminate wiring to pad instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Install connectors, connector pins, terminals and lugs.
  • Perform continuity checks, locate and correct wiring errors using ohmmeters and voltage calibrators.
  • Support fellow technicians and engineers with shop assembly and hand tools.
  • Troubleshoot failures and issues from test data with design engineers.
  • Write, create and organize work planning documents and instructions.
  • Generate purchase orders from vendor quotes.
  • Lead complex projects with minimal oversight.
  • Install and modify electrical conveyances, conduit and cable tray.
  • Build intricate cable assemblies using Mil-C connectors and contacts.
  • Troubleshoot AC power distribution equipment up to 480VAC.
  • Build and terminate AC power equipment up to 480VAC.
  • Maintain PLC based manufacturing hardware and related systems.
  • Fabricate support structures, enclosures and conveyances for electrical distribution.
