Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Line Apprentice to learn distribution system operations while supporting on-call requirements and outage response. The role involves learning to operate tools, equipment, and safety procedures in diverse field locations across multiple states.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of hire.
  • DOT Physical and DOT Certification are required.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and repairs electrical equipment such as street lighting and load control devices.
  • Constructs overhead and underground distribution lines based on engineering specifications.
  • Installs equipment such as transformers, capacitors, regulators, load control devices, meters, street lights, etc.
  • Maintains and repairs equipment; performs preventative maintenance using test equipment (volt/amp meters).
  • Responds to trouble calls when equipment fails or service is interrupted and supports company goals.
