Duke Energy is hiring a Line Apprentice to learn the distribution system operations and perform safe electrical work. The role requires on-call availability to support outages, and reports to one of several operation centers including Hartsville, SC.

This entry-level position pays an hourly rate of $28.42 with requirements including a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license. Candidates should be prepared for shift work, on-call duties, and field travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Cert from Lineman's Training School or Technical School Line program desired.
• Military experience or utility industry experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Installs and repairs electrical equipment such as street lighting and load control devices.
• Constructs overhead and underground distribution lines based on engineering specifications, including setting poles, pulling cable, setting transformers, etc.
• Installs equipment such as transformers, capacitors, regulators, load control devices, meters, street lights, safe lights, etc.
• Maintains and repairs equipment; also performs preventative maintenance using test equipment such as volt and amp meters to measure the performance of equipment.
• Responds to trouble calls when equipment fails and/or electrical service is interrupted, and
• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
