Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Line Apprentice to support the distribution operations by learning to install and maintain electrical equipment, build distribution lines, and perform preventive maintenance. The role requires on-call availability day and night, weekends or holidays, and strict adherence to safety rules.

This position spans multiple operation centers across North and South Carolina with relocation considerations and a focus on safe, efficient outage response and service delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Installs and repairs electrical equipment such as street lighting and load control devices.
• Constructs overhead and underground distribution lines based on engineering specifications, including setting poles and transformers.
• Installs equipment such as transformers, capacitors, regulators, load control devices, meters, street lights.
• Performs preventative maintenance using test equipment to measure performance of equipment.
• Responds to trouble calls when equipment fails or service is interrupted.
