Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Line Apprentice to support the operations process and learn a working knowledge of the distribution system, tools, equipment and materials. The role includes on-call duties with a more experienced colleague and availability for day or night work, weekends or holidays to support outages or emergencies, all while following safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities include installing and repairing electrical equipment, constructing distribution lines per engineering

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain Class A CDL within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

Installs and repairs electrical equipment such as street lighting and load control devices.
Constructs overhead and underground distribution lines based on engineering specifications, including setting poles, pulling cable, setting transformers, etc.
Installs equipment such as transformers, capacitors, regulators, load control devices, meters, street lights, safe lights, etc.
Maintains and repairs equipment; also performs preventative maintenance using test equipment such as volt and amp meters to measure the performance of equipment.
Responds to trouble calls when equipment fails and/or electrical service is interrupted, and supports the company’s goals and represents the company positively and professionally
