The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Landscape Trainee in Youngstown, OH to join our outdoor-focused team. You will participate in planned landscaping operations, learning to plant, trim, mow, weed, mulch, and assist in diagnosing turf and shrub conditions on a variety of properties.

This entry-level role emphasizes hands-on training, safety, and professional development, with benefits and advancement opportunities as you gain credentials and experience with Davey’s programs.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, or Landscaping preferred
• Turf, weed, tree and shrub ID, pathology knowledge preferred
• Complete Davey Landscape career development books upon hire
• Complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Valid driver’s license
• Class A or B license with Airbrake Endorsement preferred
• Pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law preferred

Responsibilities

• Execute planned landscaping operations and maintain grounds for residences and businesses.
• Learn to plant, trim, mow, weed, mulch, and more.
• Diagnose turf and shrub conditions for insects, diseases, and environmental factors.
• Maintain open communication with management and clients regarding landscape needs.
• Drive and operate landscape equipment safely and responsibly.

• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, or Landscaping
• Preferred: Turf, Weed, Tree and shrub ID, Pathology, and knowledge of turf or tree physiology

• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Valid driver’s license
