Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Landscape Trainee to join our outdoor team in Youngstown, OH. You will learn to plant, trim, mow, mulch and maintain landscapes for residential and governmental clients, working on-site with guidance from seasoned professionals.

This entry-level role offers on-the-job training, safety instruction, and the chance to advance within one of the nation’s largest employee-owned environmental services companies.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and willingness to engage in outdoor work.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, or Landscaping preferred.

Position Overview

Executes planned landscaping operations and maintains grounds and landscape of private, governmentalorbusiness residences by performing the following duties.

Job Duties

• Learn to properly plant, trim, mow, weed, mulch, and so much more.
• Learn to diagnose insect, disease, and cultural/environmental turf and shrub conditions.
• Maintain open communication with management and clients to provide feedback on landscape needs.
• Drive, use, maintain and properly operate equipment

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, or Landscaping
• Preferred: Turf, Weed, Tree and shrub ID, Pathology, and knowledge of turf or tree physiology
• Ability to complete the Davey Landscape career development books upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
