Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Landscape Trainee to join their team. The role offers outdoor work, diverse tasks and growth within a leading horticultural and environmental services company.

You will gain hands-on experience outdoors, learn planting, maintenance, diagnostics and client communication while working in a stable, employee-owned organization. Training and safety programs are provided.

Qualifications

• Must love outdoor work and be willing to learn landscape tasks.
• Preferred: forestry, horticulture or landscaping background.
• Knowledge of turf or tree physiology is a plus.
• Must be able to complete Davey Landscape career development books on hire.
• Must complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Preferred: CDL with Airbrake Endorsement.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Plant, trim, mow, weed, mulch and more as part of landscape maintenance.
• Diagnose turf and shrub insect, disease, and cultural/environmental conditions.
• Maintain open communication with management and clients on landscape needs.
• Drive, operate and maintain landscape equipment.

Position Overview

Executes planned landscaping operations and maintains grounds and landscape of private, governmental or business residences by performing the following duties.

Qualifications

Skills We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, or Landscaping
• Preferred: Turf, Weed, Tree and shrub ID, Pathology, and knowledge of turf or tree physiology
• Ability to complete the Davey Landscape career development books upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
