Job summary

Ruppert Landscape Co. is seeking an Estimator to manage estimating workflows and prepare complete proposals before bid deadlines.

You will assist customers with technical information and pricing during pre-construction, review plans, define scopes, and coordinate subcontractor bids with project managers. The role requires reading plans, building subcontractor relationships, and proficiency with estimating software.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
• Ability to build relationships with subcontractors and customers.
• Experience with estimating software preferred.
• Strong oral and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of business math and reporting.
• 1 year minimum experience preferred, but not necessary for entry-level candidates.

Responsibilities

• Manage estimating workflow to provide complete proposals before bid deadlines.
• Assist customers with technical information and pricing during pre-construction.
• Review plans and specifications to determine scope of work and production methods.
• Define scopes of work for various trades and distribute subcontract bid packages.
• Recommend and review preferred subcontractors to Project Managers.
• Solicit written quotes for materials and site furnishings.
• Submit plant lists to Purchaser to be sourced and priced.
• Complete plan take-off and enter bid information into the company’s software.
• Assign or propose profit margins based on pricing guidelines.
• Review bids with Branch and Division Managers based on approval limits.
• Participate in pre-job and post-job meetings.
