Brief Description
Estimating Manager
Estimating Manager will oversee the estimating process for all landscape maintenance, enhancement, and irrigation projects. In addition to managing a small, close-knit team, this role requires experience and expertise in providing guidance on enhancement and irrigation estimates, including irrigation repairs and landscape construction. The Lead Estimator will work collaboratively with the sales team to streamline bids and ensure project profitability while aligning with company growth objectives.
Responsibilities
- Estimating and Bid Management
- Lead the bid process from the initial Request for Proposal (RFP) to final presentation to senior leadership.
- Update and maintain bid schedule on a timely basis.
- Gather, calculate, and compile all take-off data to create bid proposal estimates.
- Review estimates for completeness and accuracy from start to finish and close out of the projects in a timely manner.
- Develop, review, and refine estimates for landscape maintenance, enhancements, and irrigation projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company goals on Gross Margin and Net Profits.
- Utilize and improve estimating software and tools to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide expert advice and support on enhancement and irrigation estimates to branch and account managers, including troubleshooting irrigation repairs and landscape construction estimates
- Process Improvement and Strategic Oversight:
- Analyze and refine estimating processes to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Implement best practices in landscape maintenance and irrigation estimating, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
- Participate in project and bid reviews with senior leadership to ensure alignment with company profitability and growth strategies.
- Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
- Stay current on industry standards, contracts, and terms.
- Team Leadership
- Support the overall goal and objectives of the company.
- Provide insights and advice on cost-effective solutions, irrigation system improvements, and landscape construction best practices.
- Recruit, hire, and onboard talented estimators to ensure a high-performing team aligned with company values.
- Evaluate team performance regularly, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Conduct individual one on one at least monthly with each estimator.
- Make recommendations and decisions regarding promotions, demotions, or role adjustments based on performance and business needs.
- Address underperformance promptly and effectively, including initiating disciplinary actions or terminations when necessary, in alignment with company policies.
- Develop and implement individual growth plans for each estimator, monitoring progress throughout the process.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, crouch, bend, and lift.
Travel
Any travel will be within business hours.

Requirements
- 4+ years of landscape estimating experience
- Proficiency with Aspire software
- Ability to work onsite M-F
