Casella Waste Systems, Inc is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator at our New York landfill to safely transfer, spread, cover, load and compact waste using backhoes, forklifts, graders, tractors and loaders. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency and teamwork in a demanding outdoor environment.

Experience is valued, with a path from Apprentice to Lead Operator; candidates must be at least 18, have a high school diploma or GED, and be legally eligible to work in the US.

Qualifications

• Must be legally eligible to work in the US.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of prior experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Proven commitment to work and safety; strong communication and problem solving skills.

Responsabilités

• Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, forklifts, graders, tractors, and front-end loaders.
• Perform pre/post operation inspections and ensure safety devices are functional.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable or hazardous waste.
• Monitor equipment condition to minimize downtime and clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Perform minor service on equipment and refer complex issues to maintenance.
• Follow safety policies and training protocols; assist technicians when needed.
• Participate in training and company initiatives to support mission and values.
