Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machinery at our recycling centers, landfills, and transfer stations. The role involves transferring, spreading, covering, loading and compacting waste or soil while maintaining high safety standards and efficiency.

Responsibilities include pre- and post-operation inspections, monitoring for unsafe waste, documenting minor repairs, and ensuring equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to company safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment per policy.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
• Perform minor servicing on equipment and document it.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report repairs as needed.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Keep shop clean and organized after each shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
