Job summary

WM is seeking a Landfill Gas Technician I to operate and maintain GCCS, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimized gas collection. You will calibrate data devices, manage wellfield data, and implement preventive maintenance.

The role requires basic field experience and a valid driver’s license, with on‑site duties and on‑call availability for GCCS-related incidents. Training includes WM’s Gas Technician I program and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required but preferred in environmental fieldwork or hands-on settings.
• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required.
• Technical or trade school training in environmental science or mechanical systems is preferred.
• Experience with PVC/HDPE piping and data logging systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain GCCS to meet regulatory requirements and optimize performance.
• Calibrate and maintain data collection devices for LFG collection optimization.
• Collect and manage data from wellfield extraction and monitoring locations.
• Implement the preventative maintenance plan for GCCS.
• Operate liquid management pumps and troubleshoot liquid levels.
• Adjust valves and collect data; interpret results.
• Work with PVC/HDPE piping and related equipment.
• Complete WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training.
• Develop understanding of environmental regulations governing GCCS.
• Follow safety rules and procedures; be available for on-call responses.
