Job summary

WM is seeking a Landfill Gas Technician I to operate and maintain the GCCS, ensuring regulatory compliance and safe field operations. The role involves data collection, calibration of sensors, and proactive maintenance, with on-call availability for GCCS issues.

The position requires a valid driver's license and readiness to work in an outdoor environment. Training will be provided for WM-specific systems and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
• Experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical, mechanical, or similar hands-on work.
• Working knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare systems.
• Technical or trade school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or related field.
• Experience with PVC/HDPE piping and components.
• Experience using data logging systems.
• Mechanical aptitude in maintenance, troubleshooting pumps/motors/pneumatic equipment.
• Knowledge of basic data entry and interpretation.
• Ability to work independently in field environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain GCCS to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Calibrate data collection devices to optimize LFG collection.
• Collect and manage data from wellfield locations.
• Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan.
• Operate liquid management pumps and monitor liquids.
• Adjust valves and interpret data.
• Work with PVC/HDPE piping and related equipment.
• Complete WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training.
• Develop understanding of environmental regulations.
• Follow safety rules and be on-call for GCCS faults.
