Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Landfill Environmental Technician to monitor water, leachate, and gas systems at our landfill.

You will apply environmental and engineering principles to test, regulate, and operate equipment to ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines. You will perform routine sampling, report findings, maintain SCADA and related equipment, and support safety and training initiatives to uphold our commitment to environmental compliance and operational

Qualifications

• High School or Technical School Education with 1 year of energy recovery systems experience.
• Ability to work in a team in a collaborative environment.
• Valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for up to 8 hours.
• Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Geology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and repairs of landfill equipment and control systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Completes daily reports on equipment readings, data collection interpretation, and field observations to ensure all necessary information is documented.
• Performs routine sampling and analysis of environmental conditions at the landfill and takes corrective action when samples don't comply.
• Develops understanding of NY DEC and USEPA rules and regulations related to landfill operations.
• Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on gas and leachate collection equipment.
• Participates in health and safety meetings and training opportunities.
• Performs other duties to support the company's mission and values.
