Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. seeks a Landfill Environmental Technician to monitor water, leachate, and gas systems, applying environmental and engineering principles to operate, regulate, test, and maintain equipment in full compliance with federal and New York state guidelines.

The role covers routine sampling, field data collection, and reporting; maintaining SCADA and related controls; and performing repairs and preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School or Technical School Education.
• 1 year of experience with energy recovery systems or similar equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Geology.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and repairs of landfill equipment and control systems.
• Completes daily reports on equipment readings and field observations.
• Performs routine sampling and analysis of environmental conditions at the landfill.
• Adheres to NY DEC and USEPA rules related to landfill operations.
• Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on gas and leachate equipment.
• Participates in regular health and safety meetings.
• Participates in training and other opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.
