We're Actively Recruiting for a Direct Hire Opportunity as Land Development Project Engineer in Charlotte, NC!

Position Details:

Position Type: Full Time / Direct Placement
Job Location: Charlotte, NC with Hybrid work options (Relocation Assistance is Negotiable)

Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000 annually depending upon experience and qualification + bonus incentives

Company Overview:

Our client is a leading, technology-driven firm specializing in Planning, Engineering, and Environmental Sciences, with offices stretching from Maine to Florida. They’re looking for professionals who thrive in a collaborative environment that values ethics, client engagement, community impact, and continuous growth. Their Charlotte office is expanding, and they’re seeking a passionate Project Engineer to join their innovative Land Development Planning and Design team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team on a wide range of projects—varying in size and complexity—for clients in higher education, healthcare, retail, mixed-use, residential, multifamily, industrial, and hospitality sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering plans and specifications in a team environment for a multitude of projects.
  • Complete Due Diligence Reports and preliminary cost estimates for various sites and project types.
  • Complete work within budget and prior to deadlines.
  • Lead the development of preliminary layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards and codes.
  • Utilize, instruct, and delegate application usage for generating project-specific drawings, reports, or other technical deliverables.
  • Manage quality control procedures and recommend QC process enhancements.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on technical aspects and policies.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Willingness to learn implementation of integrated services projects in a team with multidisciplinary skills.
  • Knowledge of land development construction including codes and development regulations.
  • Experience with client and review agency interactions.
  • Innovative design skills to develop solutions to complex projects.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills and growth potential.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related degree.
  • 5+ years of increasing engineering experience on complex projects.
  • PE licensure preferred.
  • Proficient in the following: AutoCAD Civil 3D, MS Office, Excel.
  • Proficient with hydrology and hydraulic modelling software such as HydroCad, PondPack, StormCAD and/or Sanitary & Sewer Analysis.
  • Proficient in site layout, grading, utility design and stormwater management.
  • Experience in developing and compiling/producing site plans, construction documents, specification, and engineering reports.

Drug and background screenings required.
