Job summary

Meritage Homes seeks a seasoned professional to lead land development for new communities in Tampa, FL. You will direct budgeting, scheduling, and regulatory approvals, coordinating with municipalities, HOAs, and internal teams to turn feasibility into finished lots for homebuilding operations.

The role requires extensive experience in acquisitions and land development, with strong leadership to build and grow a high-performing team across departments.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Real Estate, Finance, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering.
• Ten years of related experience; strong understanding of acquisitions and land development.
• Local real estate knowledge is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with reimbursement agreements, contracts, entitlements, and zoning.

Responsibilities

• Open new communities on time and on budget and oversee land development from tentative maps to turnover.
• Direct budgets and schedules for land development and coordinate with municipalities and HOAs.
• Review surveys, titles, and feasibility; manage agreements with municipalities and utilities.
• Oversee preparation of budgets, maps, improvement drawings, and legal documents.
• Negotiate contracts with land development contractors and coordinate with engineers and planning.
• Direct the Land Development Department and monitor financials and P&L.
• Respond to customer concerns and ensure smooth project delivery.
