Base pay range

$70,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr

Summary

We are seeking a Land Development Engineer to join our dynamic team of civil engineers, project planners, and CAD designers. In this role, you will lead the technical design of interdisciplinary teams, overseeing projects from the planning phase through to permitting and construction. We are a thriving, employee-owned surveying, planning, and civil engineering firm with a legacy of over 68 years in the industry, committed to fostering a workplace that values integrity, innovation, and professional growth.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in land development projects, sustainable design, utility design, and stormwater management. Previous work on commercial/retail developments, as well as K-12 schools and other institutional projects, is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of project drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Perform engineering analysis, design, calculations, and reports.
• Evaluate land use and zoning requirements and navigate the zoning ordinances and site plan approval processes.
• Prepare and submit permit applications, working through agency review processes to secure approvals.
• Occasionally visit project sites during construction to assess progress and quality of work.
• Collaborate with project teams, including owners, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Mentor and provide training to junior staff.
  
  

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Required).
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years in civil engineering with at least 3 years of design experience on land development projects (Required).
• Skills: Proficiency with Civil 3D, Office 360 (Excel, Word), and other relevant software.
• Additional Experience: K-12 site design experience is a plus, but not required.
• Language: Fluent in English (Required).
• Location: Candidates must reside within a 2-hour commute of Rochester Hills, Michigan.
