Job summary

Bohler Engineering Group in Herndon, VA is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027. You will gain hands-on experience with site design projects, collaborating with engineers, designers, and project managers.

You will work with AutoCAD Civil 3D to design concept plans, grading plans, stormwater, and utilities while learning zoning processes and coordinating with jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D (training provided if not yet proficient)

Responsibilities

• Experience day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm.
• Learn stages of the land development and site design process.
• Design concept plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D (concept plans, grading plans, stormwater, utilities, erosion/sediment control).
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to drive projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and learn the engineering process.
