Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer Journeyman to assist with preparation, handling, and supplying materials for other crafts on job sites in Chicago. The role covers loading/unloading, erecting scaffolding, levelling ground, tending mortar, and moving concrete.

You will guide Laborer I/II and apprentices and work with a diverse team. Ideal candidates will have a two-year apprenticeship, construction experience, and the ability to operate tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year apprenticeship program.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice.
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• All other duties as assigned.
