Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Laborer Journeyman to support material handling, preparation, and supply to other trades on site. The role requires assisting with loading/unloading, erecting scaffolding, leveling grounds, and managing mortar and grout tasks on a heavy civil project.

You will also lift and move materials, perform general cleanup, and help guide junior workers while maintaining safety and quality standards in a dynamic construction environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program
• Experience in construction preferred
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.

• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling over 50 lbs will be done with assistance of another team member or equipment.
