Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer Journeyman to support the preparation, handling, and supplying of materials for building projects. This role requires teamwork, safety awareness, and the ability to work around heavy equipment. You will load/unload materials, assist with scaffolding, and help place concrete.

A two-year apprenticeship is required, and lifting up to 50 lbs is common with assistance when needed. Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Laborer Journeyman

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Laborer Journeyman that will be responsible for the preparation, handling, and supplying of materials to be used by other crafts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Load and unload equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend mortar and grout
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program
• Experience in construction preferred
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.

**for CA, CO, WA, MN only** The base pay range for this role is $45.71 per hour. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

**for CA, CO, WA, MN only** Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
