About the Role

We are seeking a Lab Technician to join our Richmond, VA lab. The role involves assisting multiple projects, interacting with multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies, and clients.

Compensation: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule: Monday - Friday with occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

• Receive environmental samples into the laboratory according to Onterris SOPs.
• Perform data entry of sample and test information into Laboratory Information System (LIMS).
• Label sample containers, store them in appropriate locations, and/or contact the proper department to inform them of short holding time and/or rush requests.
• Assist in sample bottle preparation.
• Assist in sample management/archiving and disposal.
• Assist in sample pickup or field sampling, if needed.
• Assist in the coordination of daily field sampling/pickup schedule, if needed.
• Participate in focus teams to improve efficiency.
• Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program and Health & Safety Plan.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualifications preferred.
• Some lab experience preferred but not required.
• Must pass a drug screening test.
• Proficient in computers and database software.
• Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety.
• Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written).
• Able to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Well organized and have an attention to detail.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The role requires sitting, standing, and walking; lifting 50 pounds several times a day; overhead lifting of over 20 pounds; working in an office environment; exposure to hot and cold environments; and occasionally shifts up to 12 hours in duration.
