Job summary

Montrose Environmental Group is looking for a Laboratory Technician I in Richmond, VA. This entry-level position involves preparing samples and reagents, maintaining laboratory cleanliness, and assisting in inventory management.

Ideal candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and some knowledge of lab practices. The position offers a compensation range of $20.00 to $24.00 per hour based on experience. Working hours will be Thursday to Sunday, evenings into early morning.

Job description

Position Overview

Laboratory Technician I – Richmond, VA

Compensation: $20.00 to $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule: 2nd Shift position, Thursday – Sunday, 5:00 pm – 3:30 am.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of samples for analysis.
• Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment.
• Sample extractions.
• Determining the volume of samples.
• Cleaning of laboratory glassware.
• Maintaining clean laboratory areas.
• Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis.
• Courier supplies to and/or samples from client sites.
• Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses.
• Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation.
• Dispose of laboratory waste in a safe manner following prescribed procedures.
• Comply with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies.
• Comply with Enthalpy’s Health and Safety Plan.
• Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director.

Qualifications & Skills

High School Diploma or GED. Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualifications preferred. Some lab experience is preferred but not required as this is an entry level position.

Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety.

Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written).

Able to work independently and make sound decisions.

Well organized and have an attention to detail.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Sitting, standing, and walking.
• Lifting 50 pounds several times a day.
• Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds.
• Works in an office environment.
• May be exposed to hot and cold environments.
• May occasionally work shifts up to 12 hours in duration.
