Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Asbestos) in South Pasadena, CA. The technician will prepare environmental samples for analysis and support laboratory analysts. On-the-job training is provided, with the goal of becoming proficient in common lab practices and procedures.

The role is full-time, with training initially in the 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. range, and regular hours 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
• Some laboratory experience is a plus.
• Ability to distinguish colors to perform analysis.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for varied periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare environmental samples prior to analysis (air, bulk, dust, water, soil).
• Operate balances, HEPA fume hoods, filtration systems and muff le furnaces to prep samples.
• Support all sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation and disposal.
• Clean, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
• Adhere to safety and quality procedures and perform other duties as assigned by manager.
