Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. in South Pasadena, CA is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) for a full-time role. No prior laboratory experience is required, as on-the-job training will be provided to learn PLM, PCM, TEM, and standard lab practices.

You will perform sample preparation, analyze asbestos content, generate reports in the LIMS system, and support QA/QC. The position offers benefits and a Monday–Friday schedule with shift details as noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related science is a plus.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
• Light microscopy training preferred.
• Some laboratory experience in academic or commercial setting.
• 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.
• Ability to distinguish colors for analysis.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM, PCM, and TEM.
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system.
• Perform quality control per QA/QC manual.
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports, and answering phones.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Job Details:

Job Location: South Pasadena, CA 91030, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $22.50 Hourly, EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in South Pasadena, CA. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Qualifications: Requirements:

• Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred
• Some Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting
• 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shift:

Position is full time, Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Training shift to start will be Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of South Pasadena, CA are encouraged to apply
