Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years in a clinical environment with data processing/specimen handling experience.
• Graduate of health/medical assistant or similar training program at an accredited institution where general laboratory technique is taught.

Responsibilities

• Performs CLIA waived laboratory testing under direct supervision of a technologist and enters results into the Laboratory Information System.
• Accurately completes work according to SOPs.
• Prioritizes/reorganizes work to respond to STAT/Emergency requests.
• Follows SOPs for specimen handling and communicates results to customers.
• Assists with basic technical duties relative to simple QC and notifies a technologist of discrepancies.
• Calibrates pipettes and thermometers and records data according to SOPs.
• Prepares reagents/controls for testing as required.
• Prepares and/or collects specimens for analysis with proper labeling.
• Maintains supplies and restocks as needed.
