The position includes supervisory responsibilities, training, and potential involvement in all lab support services as needed, with a focus on maintaining efficient lab operations.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Requires 3 years medical laboratory experience.
• Preferred Associate’s Degree.
• Preferred 1 year supervisory experience.
• Preferred CPA - Certified Pathologists’ Assistant - American Society for Clinical Pathology

Responsibilities

• Supervises Lab Assistants; distributes work to staff and schedules coverage within budget constraints.
• Maintains department policies and procedures; ensures proper understanding and interpretation by staff.
• Trains employees and provides regular performance feedback; handles hiring, termination and discipline as needed.
• Evaluates sample processing equipment, techniques, and workflow with lab assistants to coordinate pre- and post-analytical functions.
• Interfaces with manager to address complaints and resolve problems per organizational policies.
• Keeps manager informed on department progress, equipment status, and budget impact.
• Maintains documentation including statistics, employee records, and quality assurance logs to satisfy regulatory requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the manager/director.
