Job summary

Trident Care in Irvine, CA seeks a Lab Supervisor with a Bachelor’s degree and a CA Tech Supervisor Licensure to lead the phlebotomy and laboratory operations. You will oversee scheduling, training, QA/QC, and regulatory documentation across Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation and Chemistry/Immunology testing.

The role requires 4+ years of lab experience and CLIA supervisory qualification, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and staff development within a dynamic clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; MT (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.
• Must qualify under CLIA regulations as a technical supervisor.
• Four years progressively responsible laboratory experience.
• Knowledge of Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation and Chemistry/Immunology.
• Oversees scheduling, training, and HR responsibilities for phlebotomy team.

Responsibilities

• Ensures satisfactory performance of the phlebotomy function, including scheduling, training, and HR duties.
• Provides technical training in all areas of responsibility.
• Confirms abnormal results and calls the facility for clinical information on rare results.
• Reviews payroll, incidents, accidents and corrected reports.
• Maintains Technical Procedure Manuals with updates.
• Reviews technical procedures before lab director approval.
• Ensures QC is within limits and test results are accurate for Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis.
• Assesses efficiency of resource utilization, personnel, equipment, and method development.
• Works with vendors to bring new analyzers and methods online.
• Conducts performance evaluations and competencies for staff.
• Analyzes quality assurance monitors and proficiency testing.
• Schedules and maintains full shift coverage in the laboratory.
• Monitors instrument operation and assigns maintenance/repairs as needed.
• Ensures regulatory documentation is available (QC, maintenance, service records).
• Maintains safe and clean work environment per OSHA and CLIA.
