Job summary

University of Missouri Health Care is seeking a dynamic leader to supervise staff and drive operational excellence across laboratory operations. The role emphasizes coaching, relationship-building with clinical and external partners, and delivering high-quality customer experiences while improving processes.

The position focuses on accountability, professional development, and delivering outstanding service in a vital area of laboratory operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three (3) years of experience in medical laboratory technician, laboratory support services, or laboratory business support environment.
• 60 college equivalent hours including chemistry hours or science hours (chemistry/biology) and related fields; and six (6) months in a medical lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of assigned staff including hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management and development.
• Oversee test ordering, specimen accessioning, and external communications for accurate processing.
• Monitor performance metrics and lead continuous improvement for service and quality.
• Resolve specimen tracking investigations and ensure timely resolution and follow-up actions.
• Coordinate surgical specimen processes between lab departments, facilities, and external partners.
• Develop, implement, and maintain department policies and work standards for compliance and quality.
• Collaborate with pathologists to evaluate needs and implement new processes.
• Monitor operations and identify opportunities to improve productivity and service levels.
