Job summary

Orlando Health is opening a Core Lab Supervisor role at its Lakeland Freestanding Emergency Department in Lakeland, FL. This leadership position oversees daily laboratory operations, ensuring accurate testing, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency to support exceptional patient care.

The role provides supervision, training, and performance coaching to lab staff, while managing workflow, budgeting, and adherence to policies across the department.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved school of medical laboratory technology or appropriate training facility.
• Bachelor’s degree in related science field.
• Completion of an approved clinical laboratory training internship.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily supervision of personnel and reporting of tests.
• Monitors workflow evaluates compliance with service guarantees and quality control requirements.
• Works cooperatively with all customers and responds effectively to meet or exceed the customer’s needs.
• Orients and trains team members in department.
• Completes performance competency evaluations, coaching plans.
• Schedules staff to meet workload requirements while minimizing expense.
• Regularly performs and reports both routine and special laboratory testing following established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results within established timeframes.
• Monitors test analysis to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained and that corrective action is taken as required.
• Evaluates team competency, monitors test results, worksheets, quality control records, proficiency testing and maintenance logs.
• Implements new test methods and procedures under the direction of the laboratory manager and medical director.
