Job summary

Riverview Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our laboratory team. You will greet patients, collect blood specimens, and perform essential pre-analytic processing in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires handling off-site collection (driving personal or Riverview vehicle with insurance) and accurate LIS data entry. Minimum high school diploma; preferred Phlebotomy cert and/or an associate degree. BLS certification within 30 days of hire is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy Certificate and/or Associates degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and at least one year full-time laboratory training or experience or both.
• Experience with data entry, medical terminology and customer service or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and collect venous or capillary blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients.
• Perform routine clerical duties and LIS data entry related to patient samples.
• Collect STAT, timed and routine specimens from off-site facilities or hospital units.
• Transport specimens using Riverview-provided vehicle or personal vehicle with proper insurance.
• Prepare specimens for testing, document requirements, and ensure correct patient identification.
• Stock phlebotomy supplies and fill off-site facility orders.
• Maintain safety, equipment, and quality control per department policies.
