Job summary

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy knowledge and patient-contact skills.
• Experience with specimen handling and LIS data entry.
• Ability to travel for off-site facility collections if required.

Responsibilities

• Supports the hospital’s mission through customer-focused service.
• Responds to inquiries regarding laboratory services, specimen requirements, turnaround times, and reporting.
• Collects STAT, timed and routine venous and capillary blood specimens from off-site facilities and inpatients/outpatients.
• Instructs patients in proper collection and handling of non-blood specimens.
• Generate and review collection lists and pending logs from LIS; contact units/facilities to track specimens.
• Use personal vehicle or Riverview provided vehicle for off-site transport; maintain valid license and insurance.
• Stocks phlebotomy supplies on units and fills off-site facility orders.
• Perform CLIA-waived testing as trained; assist with staff training on guidelines.
• Complete data entry, verify patient/specimen IDs, and ensure test requests are accurate.
• Review orders for completeness and ensure proper documentation.
