Job summary

Park Nicollet seeks a Laboratory Assistant, Outreach Phlebotomist to support patient care through accurate specimen collection and friendly reception at the lab.

You will handle phlebotomy, ordering, scheduling and billing tasks, and assist staff with specimen processing and workflow. A strong service mindset and ability to work independently are essential in this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide a wide range of laboratory services including specimen collection and phlebotomy.

• Deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory/department.

Position Summary

The Laboratory Assistant will provide a wide range of laboratory services including specimen collection, client service and reception desk duties, ordering/ scheduling/ billing functions, laboratory testing, phlebotomy, dispatching, specimen processing, centrifuging, delivery of specimens to appropriate laboratory/department and assuring proper efficiency and workflow management. Position will also serve as a resource for questions from hospital and clinic staff regarding specimen handling and processing.

Required Qualifications

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification

• Safely and legally operate Park Nicollet vehicles, must have a valid driver’s license. May be required to drive personal car on an occasional basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong customer service skills, ability to work independently, good problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills with the ability to meet time-sensitive customer requests and changes on short notice.

Preferred Qualifications

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination

• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification

• ASCP certification for phlebotomy preferred.
