Job summary

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to perform specimen receiving, processing, and patient-facing duties in a busy clinical setting. The role involves registering patients, entering orders, centrifuging specimens, labeling, aliquoting, and delivering samples to testing sites.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED with at least two years of laboratory or patient care experience, and phlebotomy experience is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of laboratory or patient care experience.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports patient registration and third party reimbursement requirements.
• Maintains department supplies and orders.
• Demonstrates knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements.
• Utilizes hospital information systems including downtime procedures and scheduling.
• Maintains positive customer service relationships and addresses issues promptly.
• Processes pathology specimens as appropriate.
• Trains staff as needed.
• Works flexible hours to meet department needs.
