Job summary

Bayfront Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to support specimen receiving and processing at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. This on-site role requires patient interaction, registration duties, and accurate processing of specimens for testing.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED and at least two years of laboratory or patient care experience, with phlebotomy experience preferred. Flexibility for overnight shifts with rotating weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of laboratory or patient care experience required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides support in patient registration and third party reimbursement requirements/regulations.
• Maintains department supplies and processes supply orders.
• Demonstrates knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements.
• Operates hospital and laboratory information systems, including downtime functions, specimen processing, transportation, billing, reference testing and scheduling.
• Maintains positive customer service relationships and responds to customer service issues.
• Processes pathology specimens as appropriate.
• Trains staff as required.
• Works flexible hours to meet department needs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work with team members and answer calls.
• Assists in cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment (refrigerators, centrifuges).
• Follows policies to meet regulatory and accrediting requirements.
• Maintains regular attendance per Orlando Health policies.
