Job summary

Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, FL is seeking a laboratory support professional to prepare specimens for analysis by registering and accessioning orders. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, specimen handling, and assisting technologists with instrumentation and safety checks.

This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and offers 5 days per week with rotating weekends and holidays. No prior experience is required, and the work supports patient care across the lab operations.

Responsibilities

• Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
• Assists in the preparation and processing of bone marrow specimens.
• Provides support functions to technologists including loading and maintaining instruments, making up reagents, thawing, pooling, importing, and issuing blood products, and maintenance and function checks.
• Keeps appropriate persons informed of instrument problems and resolutions.
• Operates, maintains, and repairs clinical laboratory equipment within the scope of training including waived testing, routine preventive maintenance, calibrations, quality control and safety checks.
• Completes culture setup of microbiology samples and gram stain preparation when staffed in Microbiology department.
• Performs the phlebotomy function to ensure accurate and timely processing of lab test orders.
• Provides laboratory customer service to include request for add-ons, specimen collection information, phlebotomy requests, result inquiry, etc.
• Performs clerical duties.
• Also maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies.
• Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
