Job summary

Texas Oncology in Dallas Sammons Cancer Center is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team. This full-time role supports specimen collection, processing, and analysis under supervision, with a Monday–Friday 8:00 am–4:30 pm schedule and no weekends or major holidays.

You will handle phlebotomy, maintain logs, ensure safety and quality guidelines, and assist with instrument maintenance. Experience is entry-level; phlebotomy experience preferred and relevant lab duties will be taught on the job.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Entry level; no experience required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Lab Specimen processing and waived testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects appropriate specimens from patients as ordered.
• Maintains proper documentation as described by QA program logs and checklists.
• Performs specimen analysis of chemistry, hematology, and immunology as directed.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures viability for testing.
• Preps patients as necessary and assists with testing procedures.
• Sends specimens to reference labs when outside testing is needed.
