Job description

The Labor Department Programs and Services Coordinator oversees day-to-day operations of the Montville American Job Center, supervising staff who deliver workforce services including RESEA, WIOA, Wagner-Peyser, and veteran services. The role involves using CTHires to manage data and communications, providing leadership and mentoring to staff, coordinating with regional partners, and handling escalated customer interactions. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.) with an initial six-month probationary period requiring office attendance, and may involve travel to other American Job Center locations as needed.

Key qualifications:
  • Current State of Connecticut Department of Labor employee with at least six months of full-time service
  • Experience supervising staff providing customer service, adjudications, employer services, or employment planning
  • Knowledge of workforce programs such as RESEA, WIOA, Wagner-Peyser, and veteran services
  • Ability to use data management systems (CTHires) to record activities, generate reports, and monitor data accuracy
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving skills with ability to handle difficult customer interactions professionally
