Job summary

UNC Health in North Carolina is seeking a Surgical Technologist I to support the Labor & Delivery unit. You will work under a surgeon and RN to ensure sterile technique, patient safety, and proper instrument handling during invasive procedures.

Candidates should have 0–3 years of related experience and be a graduate of a surgical technology or nursing program with BLS. This full-time onsite role offers night shifts in Johnston Health’s Labor and Delivery unit in Clayton.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of related experience in surgical technology
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; or Military Training in Surgical Technology
• BLS certification required or eligible for certification

Responsibilities

• Performs technical skill duties in all operating room areas, ensuring proper practices.
• Maintains, assembles, and sterilizes instrumentation per standards.
• Follows aseptic technique and reports contamination or deviations.
• Performs surgical counts and reports discrepancies.
• Labels drugs and solutions; monitors quantities used.
• Assists in preparation and labeling of specimens.
